Wow! I recognized myself in today's "F Minus" in the comics section of the local fishwrap. The artist, Tony Carillo, marches to a different beat. His "World's Worst Grandpa" resonates, though. If this (fair & balanced) self-revelation, so be it.
[x F Minus]
[Growing up in his home town of Tempe, Arizona, there were three things that Tony Carrillo loved dearly – drawing, comedy and knife throwing.
Over the years, Carrillo made several unfortunate attempts to combine his three loves into one… with tragic results. Finally, Carrillo decided that two out of three ain’t bad. So he started his comic strip "F Minus" during his sophomore year at Arizona State University where he was pursuing a B.F.A. in drawing. The strip was published every weekday in The State Press, an independent daily newspaper at ASU. Over the next two years, the strip quickly grew in popularity on campus.
In the fall of 2004, Carrillo entered "F Minus" in the inaugural "mtvU Strips" contest, an online competition searching for the best college comic strip. The contest consisted of online voting (in which nearly 200,000 votes were cast), and was also judged by comic artists Scott Adams, creator of "Dilbert," and David Rees, creator of "Get Your War On." "F Minus" was chosen as the winner, and Tony Carrillo was awarded a development deal with United Media.]
