Today's Answer To The Conundrum That Is Der Blödmann: He's A Cartoon Character!

In today's installment of Tom Tomorrow's 'toon, the long-running mad scientist, Dr. Wilbur von Philbert, who seeks to mine reality for energy makes the acquaintance of a mild-mannered (pre-presidential-candidate) Donald Trump. The mad scientist has invented a machine which converts white working-class anger into an energy source that can power entire buildings. An interested Trump stands next to the device when von Philbert activates the machine. And, in the next panel, art imitates art when mild Trump is transformed into The Incredible Trump — an homage to the creators of the Hulk, Stan Lee (Marvel Comics) and Jack Kirby (DC Comics). Shazam! Mild Trump becomes "The Incredible Trump" and chaos ensues.

Today's 'toon is the latest attempt to explain the phenomenon that is Der Blödmann. The explanations: a populist, a Hitler, a Mussolini, a con man, and all the rest constitute a cottage industry. If this is a (fair & balanced) effort to explain Der Blödmann's dementia, so be it.
