Two Blog Or Not Two Blog

Welcome to the Blogosphere—akin to Seinfeld's "show about nothing"—Web sites about nothing (and everything). Blogs are immediate and provide a healthy way to vent. That's why I dedicated this blog to my (fair & balanced) rants & raves. Sometimes I rant. Sometimes I rave. Sometimes I do both in the same post. Best of all, I am in charge of the content. If this is (fair & balanced) self-gratification, so be it.

Two Blogs Are Better Than One, But One's A Good Start...

Having a Weblog, or blog, is a great way to communicate with people who share similar interests. I am new to the whole concept of blogging, but I am catching on quickly. There are many sites available where you can build a blog even if you have never built a Web site. It isn’t even necessary to know HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language), which is the source code for Web pages.

I have two sites so far, and that will suffice for now, as neither one is completed. Both are up and running but there is more I would like to add to them. Building them can go on as far as you want. It’s possible to spend a great deal of time adding pages for different interests, links, photos, or whatever you want.

I have spent the last couple of days switching between working on my first blog, which I started last week, which is offered as an extra to my EarthLink account, and building a new blog from a site I found on the Web called Blogger.com. Blogger.com offers its services for free. All you have to do is register and start building your blog. Both accounts offer WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) formatting, so all you have to know is how to use the tools on any word processor to insert your text. Just write about the things that you like to do or talk about. Whoever feels inclined to respond can do so. It is like your own personal Web forum on the topics you choose.

My newer blog has gotten more response. It could be because of the way Blogger.com sets up your profile. When checking out a blogger's profile, his interests as well as his city, state, and country are highlighted. When clicking on, say, "computers," everyone with a blog at this location that has "computers" listed in his interests popped up. Included is a short profile, and a link to the user's blog. Another way to have people visit and post to your blog is to e-mail a link to your blog to those in your address book. It's quick and easy, and could help get the ball rolling.

I spend a lot of time on my computer (way too much according to some), and blogging has really caught my attention. If you like to spend time on your computer, but might be getting bored with the same old cruise, try blogging. It's easy, fun, and a good way to interact with like-minded people.
