Today, Tom Tomorrow (Dan Perkins) Portrays The "Great Mystery" Of The 2020 Election — Why, O Why Has The *ILK (*Impeached But Not Removed) Lyin' King Become Infected With COVID-19??

The email that brought today's TMW 'toon to the blogger's In Box also contained this message from the 'toonist:

This week, the detective-in-chief grapples with the puzzling mystery of how a man who eschews masks and social distancing could have possibly gotten sick. In case you missed it, he really did try to blame it on gold star families with whom he had a meeting (the timeline doesn’t work to scapegoat them, if you look at it). And the fourth panel is based on something that I actually saw floating around social media — another head scratcher, why are so many Republicans succumbing to the White House covid cluster?

Also: how predictable was it that Trump would immediately proclaim himself completely cured, and have a new miracle drug to tout in the process? There are many reasons to hope fervently for his defeat in a few weeks, but I have a personal one — I want a semi-normal presidency to satirize, so that when I think of absurd scenarios, they aren’t played out in reality before the cartoon ever even goes live.

The fly on Mike Pence’s head makes a cameo this week as well.

This cartoon, I note with some pride, was inspired by a suggestion from my 17 year old.

Since there are new people on the list, I want to remind everyone that you can follow me on twitter (@tomtomorrow) where I am much too active, and on Instagram (@realtomtomorrow) where I post sporadically. Oh and also that my new book is now shipping!

Be safe and be well,

Dan/Tom

And that is a fair description of the most recent debate of the 2020 election campaign.

If this is a (fair & balanced) visual depiction of the 2020 campaign in mid-October 2020, so be it.
