Roll Over, Stan (Lee) & Jack (Kirby) — Tom Tomorrow (Dan Perkins) Has Created A New Incredible Character — Now Appearing In The Oval Office

In the e-mail which brought today's 'toon to the blogger's In Box contained this note from Tom/Dam:

Hey, all,
I’ve written about this before, but since there are some new people on the list (waves!), I’ll risk repeating myself: when I started drawing Trump as the Incredible Hulk, way back during the campaign, I drew him as muscular as the Hulk, with appropriately giant fists, as he smashed his way through the primaries and the Republican establishment to his ultimate, unexpected victory. And then at some point, I looked at the character and thought — if Trump saw this, he’d actually be flattered. And somehow the big, powerful, muscular guy with giant hands just didn’t work for me anymore, and I retired the character for awhile. And then at some point I realized, what if he were the Hulk — but flabby? A monster who shouts and tweets, mostly? And with appropriately tiny hands?

I started writing this one when Trump tweeted that he didn’t have TIME for the Fake Russia Witch Hunt, and then spent several days tweeting about nothing else. I wanted to end with a mention of Puerto Rico, which is shaping up to be one of the worst disasters in American history, far more so than Hurricane Katrina, and is somehow barely even getting any space in the news cycle.

That closing panel at the end is just a random joke, for now, but we live in an era in which anything could happen. Trump has already started talking about how great it would be if he could serve more than two terms. Two thoughts on that — (1) I’m glad that he still feels constrained, however marginally, by the Constitution and the rules of our system; and (2) if he *did* manage to get the Constitution amended somehow, it would mean that Barack Obama could run against him for a third term. That would be an interesting election.
Until next time,
Dan/Tom

Obviously, the incredible being in the Oval Office of "This Modern World" is rendered with radioactive yellow hair, shirtless to reveal morbid obesity, and disproportionately small hands. The Hulk in "This Modern World" is not green-skinned, but he possesses a volcanic temper and destructive behavior like the Hulk in Marvel Comics. If this is (fair & balanced) appropriate satire, so be it.
