Hey all,
Well I’m enormously relieved to report that my father is doing immensely better, though there’s still a long road ahead for him. I made it back to New York late Sunday, and realized Monday I could still make it up to Boston for the second of the Pearl Jam shows I had canceled out on. The only problem was finding a place to stay, since I’d also canceled out my hotel, but my cartoonist pal Brian McFadden came through for me and let me sleep on his futon. I’d secured VIP tickets for him for the first show, but he had other plans on Tuesday so I was on my own for the show. Exhausted from the month’s travels — I was up in the Catskills for a week, in London and Paris with my boy for ten days, had to drop everything and fly back to Iowa for my dad, and had been in my own apartment in New York for maybe five days out of the last 30....

It was good to read that Tom/Dan's father is on the mend. It's a pity that the same prognosis can be offered for the United States of America. If this is a (fair & balanced) wish for resolution, so be it.

[Dan Perkins is an editorial cartoonist better known by the pen name "Tom Tomorrow." His weekly comic strip, "This Modern World," which comments on current events from a strong liberal perspective, appears regularly in approximately 150 papers across the U.S., as well as on Daily Kos. The strip debuted in 1990 in SF Weekly. Perkins received the Robert F. Kennedy Award for Excellence in Journalism in both 1998 and 2002. When he is not working on projects related to his comic strip, Perkins writes a daily political blog, also entitled "This Modern World," which he began in December 2001. More recently, Dan Perkins, pen name Tom Tomorrow, was named the winner of the 2013 Herblock Prize for editorial cartooning. Even more recently, Dan Perkins was a runner-up for the 2015 Pulitzer Prize for Editorial Cartooning.]
