Today, A Tiny Dick Grapples With The Mystery Surrounding The Death Of Jamal Khashoggi

With the e-mail bearing today's 'toon, Tom/Dan wrote:

Hey all,

This week’s installment, in which I try to find humor in the overwhelmingly awful story of Jamal Khashoggi. But I guess that’s kind of what I do every week, whether I’m writing about global climate catastrophe, a vile, corrupt and out-of-control administration, constant assaults on civil liberties, whatever it may be. I introduced the idea of Trump considering himself a master detective a couple of weeks ago, and decided to extend the riff for this one. The trick was to mix the hardboiled, over-metaphored Philip Marlowe voice (with apologies to Raymond Chandler, who was a master craftsman and really did not overextend metaphors as much as people seem to think) with the clueless, self-involved Donald Trump voice. So you have a Trump who can’t remember Kushner’s name, because he’s barely even aware that anyone else exists in the world. And the second panel caption, which starts out in the Marlowe voice —“this case looked like more trouble than"— and then goes into a long Trumpian riff about Stormy Daniels. And my personal favorite, though I don’t know if it’s something people will quite get, in the fourth panel — talking about “fleas on a dog,” and then rambling about how dogs are filthy animals, which I totally guarantee you is what the germophobe who’s never owned a pet thinks, and to me, at least, captures the weird digressions that are a staple of his Nuremberg rallies.

Oh also: for chrissakes, vote, as if your life depends on it. Yours may not, but somebody’s really does.

Util later,
Dan (aka Tom)

On the street, a private detective is known as a private eye or — more crudely — a private dick. That is a an appropriate term for the Horse's A$$ in the Oval Office — a real dick. Or, as Stephanie Clifford (Stormy Daniels) would term it — a tiny dick. If this is a (fair & balanced) nickname for the Horse's A$$ in the Oval Office, so be it..
