Well.
The world has turned upside down, infection is spreading exponentially, and Trump is focused like a laser on making sure that people praise his non-existent leadership. I have never despised a human being as much as I despise our so-called president as I watch him spew nonsense in those daily virus briefings (which those around him, or at least Fauci, try delicately to counter without enraging the mad king).
I haven’t had such a hard time writing a cartoon since the immediate post-9/11 era. There are moments when it’s hard to find the humor in anything.
I think the Stupidverse has now officially been replaced by the Coronaverse.

Welcome to new subscribers on the list, and much gratitude to long-termers. I’ve read several articles this week about how the coronavirus is certain to kill off the altweeklies, which are still a substantial part of my income stream, and I’m not optimistic about my other sources of revenue right now either. There are obviously larger problems in the world, but I am not overstating things to say that direct reader support is the only thing that’s going to keep this cartoon alive into 2021.
Right now, all any of us can do is take things a week at a time.
Stay safe, everyone, and stay distant. Thank your mail carrier and grocery workers, and tip your delivery people as well as you can. And wash your hands.

And that ended a melancholy comment on the most difficult time this blogger has ever experienced. It seems that the enduring sentiment is contained in the melancholy injunction "Wash your hands." If that is the best (fair & balanced) daily slogan, so be it.
