Roll Over, Roger Ailes — Cosplay Geeks Speaking Space-Speak Jargon Would Be A Big Improvement Over The Current Faux News Cast Of Propagandists

Hey all,

It has been at least a year since we checked in on our friends at the Glox News Network, those denziens of a planet whose news cycle eerily seems to echo our own. The Michael Cohen references in the first few panels should be self-explanatory; I also spent the week half-paying-attention to the CPAC craziness, where it is now apparently a matter of faith that the young socialist-leaning left wants to BAN AUTOMOBILES, CHILDREN, AND COWS. The cow thing comes from a slightly sarcastic aside in a talking points memo, something to the effect of, well we can’t do much about flatulent cows. And obviously there’s a bit of a difference between trying to scale back air travel to some degree by offering high speed rail and BANNING ALL AIR TRAVEL, but even our president, with his very good brain, rambled on during his CPAC speech about how difficult it will be to get to Hawaii by train. The question we all used to ask was “stupid or evil,” but I think that’s been surpassed by “stupid, evil and utterly deranged” at this point. Oh, and the fifth panel also references a very weird current talking point — the right wing has gone beyond the “late term abortion” debate to a very bizarre scenario that Scott Walker described in his CPAC speech: that liberals now want to take home babies from the hospital and then abort them.

I mean, I can’t even.

(A related, an extremely poignant personal account from @DrJenGunter, an OB-GYN and New York Times columnist, here.)

Also, just a note of thanks to all of you who have signed onto this list. Just started pulling my tax info together and the decline in newspaper income over the past few years is somewhat dramatic — and so far, largely offset by the growing subscriber base for Sparky’s List. In a very real sense, you all are keeping the cartoon viable for me.

Until next time….

Dan/Tom

Well, Here's Tom Tomorrow (Dan Perkins) Using something like "Star Trek" jargon to recreate the speech of denizens of the planet Glox. Strangely, it seemed an improvement over poison delivered by blonde news-bunnies. If this is a (fair & balanced) space-opera parody, so be it.
