So Weird, Indeed — Welcome To Tom Tomorrow's Visual Summary Of The Week Just Past

Along with today's 'toon, Tom Tomorrow (Dan Perkins) wrote:

Hey all,

These “stupidverse” cartoons are kind of a way to grapple with the firehose of insanity that we’re all blasted with every week. Every. Single. Week. And of course, even with this wide-ranging, scattershot approach, there are still dozens of things that should be in there, but aren't. Case in point here is probably the New Zealand massacre and the ways in which hatred proliferates online, but that's going to have to be a topic for a different week.

I gave up the old Year in Review cartoons when Trump was elected, because these days to summarize the year, I’d basically have to do one every week; maybe these are sort of what has replaced them.

That final panel is kind of an obvious joke, but what can I say, I've been wanting to do it for awhile. That thing where he hugs flags is just SO weird....

The most discouraging element in today's 'toon is the subtitle: "An Endlessly Ongoing Series." It is a horrible nightmare in a loop, seemingly running forever. If this is a (fair & balanced) revelation of our national Zeitgeist, so be it.
