Quelle Toile Nous Tissons...

President François Hollande of France whose main accomplishment during an official U.S. visit was to complicate the State Dinner celebrating his visit to the White House. Almost a month ago, Hollande ended a 6-relationship with French journalist Valérie Trierweiler after the tabloid magazine Closer outed his affair with actress Julie Gayet. The State Dinner brouhaha revolved around the seating arrangements for the newly solo President Hollande. The POTUS 44 and the First Lady sat Hollande between them and canceled the dance following the dinner. To answer The Deadline Poet's question, France has been without a First Lady for the past two years because Hollande has never been married. The President of France has not been celibate, though, because he fathered 4 children with fellow Socialist politician Ségolène Royal during their 30-year relationship. In nine states in the USA, Hollande would be considered to have been in a common-law marriage with both Mesdames Royal and Trierweiler. Mme. Gayet would be un ami avec des avantages. If this is a (fair & balanced) rom-com, so be it.
