Impeachment Talk — Tom Tomorrow Style

In the e-mail that contained today's TMW 'toon, Tom/Dan wrote:

Hey all,

It is a strange thing, to be creative in public for a living, when there are things going on in your life that consume a lot of your focus. I’ve been through this in the relatively recent past, of course, with the meltdown of my marriage and the subsequent year or so it took to negotiate the details of the breakup. That was slightly distracting! And now I’m in the midst of finding an assisted care facility for my father and sorting out all the attendant details, at a distance of a thousand miles. I’ll be heading back to the midwest at some point soon, at which point I will probably be running backup or rerun cartoons for a week or two, while I help get him settled in and oversee clearing out his house. He’s in good spirits about the whole thing, and I think it will be okay — it’s just something that’s been hanging out there in front of us for a long time, and finally landed, and it’s just time to sort out the details. I have every intention of at least *trying* to work while I’m there — I was back for a different health crisis last year and managed to still hit my deadline. But this process may be a bit more time-consuming, and I thank you in advance for your patience. In the meantime, here’s a new one! I thought about framing this with one of my standard Trump riffs — the Sherlock Holmes thing, or the Incredible Trump — but in the end, the simplest version seemed to work the best.

There are some new subscribers on the list so I want to reiterate my gratitude to everyone for your ongoing support. It’s not remotely an exaggeration to say that this list has become an important part of keeping my work sustainable and my rent paid. I know I talked about having a NYC meetup at some point, but that’s going to have be postponed a little bit longer, while I sort out the situation with my dad. But it will happen (though really, I’m just talking about having beers in some random bar for a couple of hours — I’d feel guilty if anybody traveled too far for this, as some of you suggested you might! I warn you, my work is much more interesting than I am, in person!)

Until next week …

Dan/Tom

Thus, today's TMW 'toon portrays The LK (Lyin' King) and his unindicted co-conspirator, "The White-Haired Guy" (aka VP Mike Ha'Pence) with fuming from The LK and the boot-licking by Ha'Pence (The White-Haired-Guy). Together, this Dynamic Duo has the combined brain-power of an idiot. If this is a (fair & bapanced) portrayal of the current Oval Office, so be it.
