True to his word, Dan/Tom took over for the past week for a travel-visit with his son. And also true to his word his e-mail contained an "evergreen" (rerun in 'toonist talk) from 2008 and the topic of this old 'toon was as viable in 2019 as it had been in 2008. And the most apt response is "Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose" (The more things change the more they stay the same) were the words of Jean-Baptiste Alphonse Karr in 1849 in response to the Revolution of 1848 in France.

Hey all,
This is a slightly-edited version of a cartoon that first ran in 2008, but seems somewhat relevant to the current moment. I took last week off, and took a small road trip with my son. I’m still catching up on everything I missed — apparently Trump is our god emperor now? And apparently that wasn’t even the strangest thing that happened. It was lovely to have a few days in which I did not have to immerse myself in the 24/7 craziness, but since this week’s commentary is necessarily light as a result,
Next week, back to work....
Dan/Tom
And, unfortunately, today is the beginning of the final week of August 2019 and the craziness continues unabated. If this is a (fair & balanced) report from the mental health institution we call the USA, so be it.
