After The 2020 Election, Tom Tomorrow (Dan Perkins) Might Retitle His Cartoon Strip To "This -Modern- Dismal World"

In the e-mail that delivered today's 'toon, Tom/Dan explicated:

This week: another wide-net news-roundup cartoon, after a week that was crazier than the last, but will undoubtedly be surpassed by the next.

The first two panels deal with a point I keep trying to make on Twitter: Trump doesn’t *want* to run against Sanders. He may or may not think he has a better chance against Sanders, but when he tweets stuff about how UNFAIR the Democrats are being to Bernie, he has one goal only: to sow division, and suppress voter turnout. Pundits don’t always seem to understand this.

As for Elizabeth Warren, all I can say is, we had a moderate-leaning candidate who was absolutely hell-on-wheels on the debate stage and who, in a rational world, would have been the consensus between the left and moderate wings of the Democratic party. Now, we’re very likely going to have an election in which Donald Trump will attack his opponent for being in obvious cognitive decline whose offspring appeared to have profited from his father’s political connections, and the Fox News crowd will eat it up.

Tom Tomorrow (Dan Perkins) has established the Geezer Era of the US Presidency: after the 2020 election, the White House will be occupied by an occupant (no matter the party-affiliation) who is in obvious cognitive decline, with offspring havjng profited from the father’s political connections, and the Faux News crowd will eat it up. If this is (fair & balanced) political pessimism, so be it.
