Tom Tomorrow (Dan Perkins) Talks About "Mistakes" In Today's 'Toon & We're Living In A "Collection Of Mistakes" That We Call 2020

In the e-mail (July 5, 2020) that brought today's 'toon to this blogger's In Box, Tom Tomorrow (Dan Perkins) also wrote:

Hey All,

Okay, those of you who have been subscribers to the list for longer than six weeks have already seen this one! I sent it out early awhile back, then ended up bumping it in favor of a cartoon focusing on the BLM protests, which were just starting up at that point.

This last week was complicated for me, for various personal reasons, and kind of got away from me, so it seemed like a good moment to finally send it out, albeit in a slightly revised form to include a more recent quote. (And, one side benefit of the “mistakes” format is that any inadvertent typos… are just part of the riff! That’s my story, and I’m sticking to it.)

Happy Fourth of July, everyone. I mean, you know, the usual disclaimer, as happy as possible under the current yadda yadda.

Until next week

Dan/Tom

And so, the 'toonist spoke and this blogger thought about mistakes in his life — too numerous to count. — and the thought emerged that the BIGGEST mistake of our time occurred with the result of the election of 2016. The nation is not confronting the mistakes of our time with a clear, coherent national plan or strategy to bring the Pandemics (disease, police violence, divisive politics, and the list seems endless) under control. If this is a (fair & balanced) belief that it is quite possible that the biggest mistake (We The People) will be erased, so be it.
