Crime Week In This Blog Begins With "Dumbfellas" (A Play On The 1990 Mob Film, "Goodfellas")

In the e-mail that brought today's TMW, Tom/Dan wrote:

Hey all,

Well it has been a hectic couple of weeks. Last weekend I was in Columbus for the Comics Crossroads Festival, taking part in a special presentation about The Nib, and my friend Matt Bors’ incredible work at keeping it alive as successive tech billionaires decide the relative pocket change necessary to fund one of the most important comics projects to come along in a decade just isn't worth it. As with any conference at which friends and colleagues gather from distant points, there were late nights and conversation, and I’ve been sort of recovering all week. And now it’s time for New York Comic Con! I’m sending this out a bit early (though as usual, please don't share until it goes live on Daily Kos on Monday morning), to give a head’s up to anyone attending NYCC: I’ll be signing the last book at the IDW booth on Saturday (the next one, which will actually have cartoons about the Trump era, is due out in Spring 2020). And my friend Chase Masterson, who is possibly best known for her role on "Star Trek DS9," asked me to take part in her panel on preventing bullying, which will be Sunday at 4 PM. I’m going to bring some stickers and will hand them out (while they last) to anyone who identifies themselves as a Sparky’s List subscriber. Code phrase: The Penguin is Watching

Until next week,

Dan/Tom

The crime/criminal analogies have begun to proliferate in the media. The Lyin' King operated like a mobster in NYC, Atlantic City, and anywhere else that The LK erected a "tRump Tower" sign on an empty downtown building. Then he proceeded to defraud, steal, and worse from anyone who did business with him or, worse, worked for him. If this is (fair & balanced) crime & non-punishment, so be it.
