The e-mail bearing today's TMW 'toon also contained the following message from the 'toonist (Tom Tomorrow/Dan Perkins):
Hey all,
A couple of quick notes about this one. The line about more people dying due to drinking excessively was actually something that a troll (or a bot) showed up in my timeline with, obviously proving the sheer hypocrisy of anyone who thinks guns might be a problem. (A quick look at his/its feed showed that this was an issue they were pushing aggressively it was pretty much a single-issue Twitter feed, devoted to this one extremely good-faith argument.) And as for that bit at the end about feral hogs, if you're on twitter you're already sick of the joke, but if you are a sane person who doesn't live on twitter all day, here's the backstory.
There's finally some new stuff in the store. Sparky & Blinky stickers are back by popular demand, and there's a new shirt that I designed for anyone who loves New York City, rats and all. And we've got a special enamel Sparky pin in production which will be showing up in the next week or two.
I do not have a firm opinion on the Epstein thing, except to say, wow how very convenient for some of the richest and most powerful people on earth.
Until next time,
Dan/Tom
And those comments sum up a lousy week for this US citizen. Just when you think, "It can't get any worse," the week that follows is predictably worse. If this is a (fair & balanced) real-life reenactment of Jean-Paul Sartre's "No Exit," so be it.
