With yesterday's e-mail from Tom/Dan that arrived 6 hours earlier than has been the case over the past several months, Tom/Dan wrote:
Hey all,
Unless you were distracted by the million other things that happened this week, you probably saw the UN climate report that said we have twelve years to take serious action or else we are screwed, which of course means that we are screwed. This cartoon isn’t a perfect metaphor — the point was the probable reaction to this dire warning, but of course in this scenario, the asteroid isn’t a crisis we literally brought upon ourselves. But there’s only so much I can do in any single installment, and I wanted to focus on the most immediately maddening aspect of this — faced with a clear and present warning, we are still unlikely to take the necessary steps to avert a foreseeable calamity, particularly under the current administration.
For those of you not on Twitter (and how I envy you), a couple of related tweets from last week
Until next week...

And last evening, on "60 Minutes," the current occupant of the Oval Office was asked about the recent UN proclamation of environmental disaster within a little more than a decade and his reply was evasjve, at best. Looking ahead to tomorrow (a play on words), today's 'toon imagines the response to the looming environmental trainwreck. If this is (fair & balanced) whistling past the graveyard, so be it.
