Stephen Joseph "Steve" Scalise (R-LA) has represented Louisiana's First Congressional District since 2008. Was Captain Orange's choice as Majority Whip in the 114th Congress. Then, a Louisiana blogger, Frederick "Lamar" White, Jr. outed Scalise for speaking at a 2002 meeting of the European-American Unity and Rights Organization (known as EURO) that was founded by Louisiana racist and anti-Semite David Duke. Captain Orange's minions in the House closed ranks and defended Scalise's appearance as innocent and unwitting. It has been alleged that Scalise, while serving in the Louisiana House of Representatives, supposedly described himself as "David Duke wihout the baggage." If this is a (fair & balanced) example of disgraceful white privilege, so be it.

Steve Scalise’s Defense
By The Deadline Poet (Calvin Trillin)
Tag Cloud of the following piece of writing
He spoke before he knew that group... preached hate.
That’s human error—cause for mild rebuke.
Although the leader’s name does ring a bell,
It might have been some other David Duke. Ω
