Today, Go For A Virtual Ride With Tom Tomorrow (Dan Perkins)

With the e-mail that brought today's 'toon, Tom/Dan wrote

Hey, all,

Well, if this one seems slightly disconnected from the news cycle, it’s because I wrote it two weeks ago and saved it in anticipation of the week just concluded, in which my divorce was at last finalized. I live in New York now but had to go up to Connecticut where, in some New England Puritan holdover tradition, you must physically go to court and stand before a judge to have your settlement approved, even when you’ve mediated everything yourself and are not pursuing a trial. In the end it was all fine — I’d even say amicable — but I didn't get much writing done last week as a result.

This one was initially inspired by Chuck Todd’s favorite voice of civility, Erick Erickson, who tweeted out an approving mention of the alt-right “helicopter ride” meme — referencing Pinochet’s method of executing political opponents by pushing them out of helicopters. But I hope it speaks to a larger point, the tendency of these shows to feature right wingers with batshit crazy ideas, as long as they can contain their batshit craziness for the length of the broadcast.

Hey and also, it’s that time of the year again. I haven’t added much new merch this year but there are still some odds and ends available at the online store, and of course, copies of TMW25 are still available on Amazon.

Until next time….

Dan/Tom

This blogger had initial qualms about including a merchandising message from Dan/Tom, but the financial toll of a divorce brought back bitter memories and the blogger thought again and included the merchandising message.in this season of this sound. If these are (fair & balanced) difficult times for us all, so be it.
