Today, The Deadline Poet Experiences Newsnesia?

Calvin Trillin needs a timeout from cable TV news. The poor guy is experiencing cognitive slippage. Every hour, it's a new crisis. Whatever happened to the bank crisis in Cyprus? What crisis? Old news dies quickly. Today's TV news mania is dominated by the Hobbit-dictator of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and the possibility that the North Korean military will launch an ICBM with a nuclear payload. On top of that, last week's news leaked that among the handful of U.S. targets for a North Korean nuke is Austin, TX. Eek! What the hell did we do to the Hobbit? If this is (fair & balanced) fear & loathing, so be it.
