What If Clinton Had Been A Pillhead?

Poor, poor Rush Limbaugh. Not only is he obese, but he is sick. I hope the fat windbag ends up on Cellblock C. He'll fit right in with the Aryan Brotherhood. After watching a few episodes of OZ, I think the Aryan Brotherhood will be very good for Limbaugh's social development. What if Bill Clinton had been addicted to Oxycontin (the most powerful drug used in treating terminally ill cancer patients)? Would the Amarillo fishwrap have expressed such compassion? I hate W AND Limbaugh as much as typical rightwing nuts hated the Clintons. And I NEVER voted for Bill Clinton and I would not vote for Hillary Clinton! Sleaze is sleaze on both the Right and the Left! Tit for tat. If this be (fair & balanced) revulsion, so be it.

Editorial: Rush to pile on Limbaugh detracts from compassion
Opinion

Rush Limbaugh isn't just any drug addict. He is wealthy, well-connected - politically and socially - and adored by millions of radio talk-show listeners, including thousands of Texas Panhandle residents who tune into his show each day.

Limbaugh admitted this past week to an addiction to painkillers and has checked himself into a drug rehabilitation clinic for the next month, or maybe longer.

On another level, however, Limbaugh's story is just like millions of other Americans. He needs treatment and compassion.

Limbaugh will get both. Indeed, he deserves compassion even from his adversaries whom he has pilloried for two decades with his own caustic brand of criticism.

Limbaugh's admitted addiction is to OxyContin, a timed-release pain medication that the government already is examining carefully.

Limaugh faces a possible criminal prosecution for obtaining the drug illegally.

No one can predict how that probe will turn out.

What one can predict, however, is that Limbaugh must face down some formidable demons.

His battle does contain considerable irony. Limbaugh has expressed his own lack of tolerance for drug abusers. "Send 'em up," he has declared.

One only can wonder if a cleaned-up Rush Limbaugh will offer up a different message upon his return to the airwaves.

Meantime, there is just this to say: Get well, Rush.
