Garbanzo Bean War

Lighten up. Good motto for (F&B) Rants & Raves. Good advice to Coach Knight. The Nedster—Ohio's answer to Will Rogers—supplied a parody of this blog. If this is (fair & balanced) jesting, so be it.

From wire reports.

Texas Technical Chancellor and B ball coach Bobby "The Mouth" Knight engaged in a one-sided verbal joust at a stylish deli recently. The winner will be decided after a careful review by the TT administration behind closed doors.

Eyewitnesses say the Chancellor, garbanzo beans in hand, complimented the coach on his behavioral equanimity during the recent past. Whereupon, said coach took umbrage at the soothing words which he likely felt were interfering with his deciding whether to use low-cal ranch dressing or hot salsas for is cumquat aspic. And the verbal duelling was underway as the chancellor attempted to make a hasty retreat all the time asserting Bobby wasn't showing the chancellor the respect due a man of his high office. Although no blows were struck nor was any furniture brandished menacingly, there was definitely rancor in the air.

Of course nobody ain't talking, returning messages or leaking tidbits to the fifth estate. But the situation now gets stickier since not a fortnight ago, the same red sweatered mentor had some less than salutary remarks for an ESPN reporter who asked a seemingly harmless question.

Are the coach's days numbered at TT? Will the administration allow its leaders to be publicly pilloried by the likes of a basketball coach? Will the petition of 58 faculty members be resurrected as an "I told you so" when Bobby was being considered for his current position?

Stay tuned for further developments in the Garbanzo Bean War.

And keep a song in your soul.
