The REAL Issues In The War On Terror

Lost in David Broder's recent op-ed piece on the initial TV ads for the Bush campaign is that the REAL problem with W's reelection is that we are not asking

why Bush is not calling on comfortable Americans to make any sacrifices for the war effort and why he refuses to raise the revenue to pay for what he calls a life-and-death struggle.

Those are the legitimate issues.

Indeed, the legitimate issues are before us. The presumptive Democrat nominee has not seized on the real issues yet. If Senator Kerry does not ask why we are not making WWII-style sacrifices and why we are not paying for a real war, a replay of the election of 2000 is likely. If this is (fair & balanced) punditry, so be it.
