Brand Me "S" For Stupid

In our time, stadia and the athletes performing in them are billboards for Nike or some other corporate behemoth. Jerseys are covered with corporate logos. The garb worn by coaches on the sidelines are covered with corporate logos. In return, the corporate sponsors pay big bucks to the coaches, the team owners, or the universities for the advertising space. The City of Georgetown could have had a Nike swoosh or McDonalds golden arches and saved $44K and gained an annual payment for supplying advertising space. The options are limitless. All it takes is imagination. If this is (fair & balanced) vapidity, so be it.

$44K for this? The image was copied from the City of Georgetown Web site. Note that the tag line—"Sincerely yours"—is omitted in this image from the Web site. Too embarrassing? Freudian slip? A Webmaster with good taste? [Click on the image to enlarge it.]
