As we have learned, Sparky the Wonder Penguin can actually talk. Spark's first words in "This Modern World" were "George [H. W.] Bush is a wanker". A strong liberal advocate, Spark briefly became a Republican after being hit on the head with a random falling toilet. Today, Spark is a best-selling author of a memoir that tugs at the heart. Alas, Spark falls into the category of the fake memoirist and one of the comments about him ring true: "...He's in that cartoon that no one reads." Move over, Sparky, this is a blog that no one reads. If this is (fair & balanced) psychic pain, so be it.

This Modern World Sparky's "Memoir"
By Tom Tomorrow (Dan Perkins)
[Dan Perkins is an editorial cartoonist better known by the pen name "Tom Tomorrow". His weekly comic strip, "This Modern World," which comments on current events from a strong liberal perspective, appears regularly in approximately 150 papers across the U.S., as well as on Salon and Working for Change. The strip debuted in 1990 in SF Weekly.
Perkins, a long time resident of Brooklyn, New York, currently lives in Connecticut. He received the Robert F. Kennedy Award for Excellence in Journalism in both 1998 and 2002.
When he is not working on projects related to his comic strip, Perkins writes a daily political weblog, also entitled "This Modern World," which he began in December 2001.]

I am an old assembler coder (aka asmcoder@comcast.net), not fair, not balanced and I find you are much too hard on yourself. Many people, young and old, balanced and unbalanced, on time and tardy--people like you and me--read your column most of the time. So keep up the good work.
