"Alley Oop" (1960)
By The Hollywood Argyles
The Great Wikipedia tells us that "Alley Oop is a syndicated comic strip, created in 1932 by American cartoonist V.(incent) T. Hamlin while he worked by day as a local newspaperman in Iraan, TX. The town was the center of the oil boom in 1926 with the discovery of "Texas tea" on the Yates Ranch, owned by Ira and Ann Yates. The boom town was named by combining Ira and Ann to Iraan. That made perfect sense in Texas. And nearly a century later, the idea of Adam and Eve riding dinosaurs makes perfect sense to the State Board of Education of Texas. This elective body ought rename itself as the State Board of Stupidity of Texas. Alley Oop is the bastardization of the French slang expression, Allez Hop!. If this is a (fair & balanced) leap from reality, so be it.
