The Deadline Poet (Calvin Trillin) might be a victim of Der Trumpster-fatigue. He expresses remorse over the primary interruptus performed by The Dropout (Walker), The Jungle Boy (Jindal), and Goodhair (Perry) by pulling out before the first primary ballots had been cast. Unfortunately, The Deadline Poet fails to grasp the ideal: ALL of the Dumbo/Teabagger candidates drop out and go back to the rock from which they crawled. If this is a (fair & balanced) hope for a Dumbo/Teabagger-free world, so be it.

Dropout Remorse
By The Deadline Poet (Calvin Trillin)
Tag Cloud of the following piece of writing
So what was so bad about Walker?
Was Perry that god-awful slow?
And though Bobby Jindal
Could see his polls dwindle,
Just why did he give up and go?
Yes, once I disdained all these guys
Whose leaving has left me bereft.
So one wonders how
I long for them now.
It’s something to do with who’s left. Ω
[Calvin Trillin began his career as a writer for Time magazine. Since July 2, 1990, as a columnist at The Nation, Trillin has written his weekly "Deadline Poet" column: humorous poems about current events. Trillin has written considerably more pieces for The Nation than any other single person. A native of Kansas City, MO, Trillin received his BA (English) from Yale College in 1957. He served in the army, and then joined Time.]
