The e-mail from Tom Tomorrow (Dan Perkins) — containing today's This Modern World 'toon — was late and that is because the late Saturday news about the sudden death of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia must have forced the 'toonist is scrap the 'toon he had drawn for today and replace it with a bleeding-edge entry. In fact, as the story played out, Justice Scalia was found alone in his room at the hunting resort in Deep West Texas. This blogger hoped that the jurist would have been found in bed with either a dead girl or a live boy. However, life does not imitate crude Texas humor. So, in the aftermath, today's 'toon portrays the Dumbos in all of their glory and the scramble for the vacant SCOTUS seat begins. In the meantime, sit back and enjoy a graphic portrayal of Dumbo stupidity. Those sumbitches couldn't pour pi$$ out of a boot if the instructions were printed on the heel. If this is (fair & balanced) Texas humor, so be it.

[Dan Perkins is an editorial cartoonist better known by the pen name "Tom Tomorrow". His weekly comic strip, "This Modern World," which comments on current events from a strong liberal perspective, appears regularly in approximately 150 papers across the U.S., as well as on Daily Kos. The strip debuted in 1990 in SF Weekly. Perkins, a long time resident of Brooklyn, New York, currently lives in Connecticut. He received the Robert F. Kennedy Award for Excellence in Journalism in both 1998 and 2002. When he is not working on projects related to his comic strip, Perkins writes a daily political blog, also entitled "This Modern World," which he began in December 2001. More recently, Dan Perkins, pen name Tom Tomorrow, was named the winner of the 2013 Herblock Prize for editorial cartooning. Even more recently, Dan Perkins was a runner-up for the 2015 Pulitzer Prize for Editorial Cartooning.]
