Curt Schilling has been eligible for the Baseball Hall of Fame (HOF) since 2013 and has never close to receiving the vote percentage for election to the HOF.. If Schilling had won at least 300 games in his 20-year career with the Baltimore Orioles, Philadelphia Phillies, Arizona Diamondbacks, and the Boston Red Sox between 1989-2007, but he only had 217 wins. Nor did Schilling ever receive the MVP in any of those years. As a result, Schilling was good, but not good enough for the HOF. And now, Shilling has hitched his political wagon to the LK (Lyin' King) in the Oval Office. This blog gives a H/T (hat tip) for the first time to the spouse of a reader in The Valley of the Sun for forwarding this essay for the (Rants & Raves) blog.. You go, girl! If this is a (fair & balanced) rejection of xenophobic opportunism, so be it.

Curt Schilling Hurls Wild Political Pitch At...Arizonans
By Edward J. (EJ) Montini
TagCrowd Cloud provides a visual summary of the following piece of writing
In 2001, former Diamondbacks’ pitcher Curt Schilling helped lead Arizona fans to baseball heaven.
In 2020, he’d like to drag some of us down the dark and dirty road to his own personal hell.
Schilling is making news by floating the idea that he may run for a seat in Congress in one of Arizona’s “blue” districts.
President Donald Trump, for whom Schilling has been a supporter and an apologist, loves the idea, tweeting: "Curt Schilling, a great pitcher and patriot, is considering a run for Congress in Arizona. Terrific!"
Schilling issued a rambling, somewhat incomprehensible statement to The Arizona Republic that read in part:
"Not ready to do any of that right now. If/When things solidify I will but right now it's something in the 'I'm considering it' stage. The state is not the state I grew up in. Making Arizona citizens of EVERY Race, religion and sexual orientation 2nd class citizens to illegal immigrants is about as anti-American as it gets. When you have homeless veterans, children, and you're spending tax dollars on people smuggling drugs and children across our border someone in charge needs their ass kicked."
In some ways he's a perfect fit
There is no doubt that Schilling would fit right in with the legacy of some Arizona politicians.
He’s former Sheriff Joe Arpaio with a curveball.
He’s wacky US Representative. Paul Gosar with a bloody sock.
Schilling made the news a while back when he was dumped by ESPN after a crude Facebook post about a North Carolina law that banned transgender people from using bathrooms other than their birth genders.
He has compared Muslims to Nazis, sharing online a meme that read, “It’s said only 5-10% of Muslims are extremists. In 1940, only 7% of Germans were Nazis. How’d that go?”
Although, at the same time, he’s a collector of Nazi memorabilia.
Schilling says he is a collector of World War II memorabilia and that some of it comes from the Nazis. Still, creepy.
On the mound, OK, but Congress?
He thought it was funny and posted a photo online of a guy wearing t-shirt that said, “Rope. Tree. Journalist. Some assembly required,” writing, “OK, so much awesome here…”
It goes on.
Back in 2001 there wasn’t a baseball fan in Arizona who wasn’t happy to have Schilling on the mound for the Diamondbacks throwing four-seam fastballs, cutters and sliders past opposing players.
I’m not sure how happy Arizona voters would be having Schilling, in 2020, tossing high heat… at them. ###
