Tom Tomorrow (Dan Perkins) Has A Pandemic Story Along With Today's "This Modern World" "Toon

In an earlier e-mail that brought today's "This Modern World" 'toon, Tom Tomorrow (Dan Perkins) also wrote:

Wow, look at that! It’s already been another week, since the last one, and the one before that. I hate how much time I have to spend keeping up on the horrors of the world, but I guess I’m grateful to have a deadline each week, or else I’d have no structure in my life whatsoever. Every. Day. Is. The. Same. I stare at twitter, I try to write, I take a nap or two (because I rarely get a full night’s sleep), I skype, I cook, I clean, I watch tv. Caffeine and alcohol are consumed. I try to go out for a walk every day or two.

This week was broken up by one delightful occurrence, which was that a newspaper chain up in my old stomping grounds (New Haven and environs) was doing a feature on pets in the pandemic, which led to a FULL PAGE NEWSPAPER ARTICLE on the fact that … I had adopted a cat. “Cartoonist gets cat” is, well, not exactly a rare occurrence. I’ve been featured in my share of interviews and articles over the years, but this is absolutely my favorite.

[Dan Perkins is an editorial cartoonist better known by the pen name "Tom Tomorrow." His weekly comic strip, "This Modern World," which comments on current events from a strong liberal perspective, appears regularly in approximately 150 papers across the US, as well as on Daily Kos. The strip debuted in 1990 in the SF Weekly. Perkins received the Robert F. Kennedy Award for Excellence in Journalism in both 1998 and 2002. When he is not working on projects related to his comic strip, Perkins writes a daily political blog, also entitled "This Modern World," which he began in December 2001.
